More About BLUEBERRY Picking at Kustermans

About Our Blueberry Farm

Kustermans has been growing blueberries for over 25 years across 14 acres, producing multiple varieties that ripen from mid‑July into August. Each row is managed by hand to maintain consistent quality and flavour. The fields are tended daily, and the mix of early, mid, and late‑season berries keeps the farm productive throughout the summer, offering steady picking conditions for visiting families.

What to Expect On Picking Day

Wear comfortable clothes and closed‑toe shoes — the fields are outdoors and the ground can be uneven between rows. Depending on the time of day and ripeness, picking a pound can take as little as five minutes. Morning visits usually offer the best selection before the heat sets in. Containers are provided at no extra cost, and everything in your bucket is weighed at checkout.

What to Do with Fresh-Picked Blueberries

Fresh blueberries keep best when stored dry and cold. Wash them only before eating, since rinsing before refrigerating shortens their shelf life. For freezing, keep berries unwashed to prevent them from clumping into a solid block. Freeze‑dried berries stay loose like marbles and can be rinsed before use. Our market also carries pre‑picked pints, 5 lb bags, and frozen boxes.
